An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the leading Life Science Companies in the Nordics as Head of Communications, Public Affairs, Science and Sustainability Nordics and lead the CPASS Nordic team across the region of 8 countries. The position is based in the Bayer Nordic HQ in Espoo, Finland.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overall responsibility for leading communications, public affairs and sustainability initiatives in order to ensure growing impact of Bayer’s handprint and reputation in the Nordics and ensure favorable operating business environment via proactive public affairs work.

    Lead, coach and inspire the Nordic CPASS team.
  • Develop and maintain media relations and drive media coverage for the company through proactive networking.
  • Ensure that the region has robust evaluation and analysis methodologies in place to measure the impact of communication and public affairs initiatives and programs and that these insights are used to determine how programs and plans can be improved.
  • Act as Bayer's spokesperson and point of contact to the media and decision makers for incoming enquiries and support other Bayer spokespersons doing so.
  • Support the Nordic CEO and strategically manage his/her external and internal positioning as main representative of the company through proactive stakeholder approach, targeted interviews, speaking opportunities, public presentations etc.
  • Advise senior management on the communications and public affairs issues and opportunities, work closely with them to develop and deliver a cohesive CPASS strategy and ensure that senior management is fully leveraged as part of the CPASS process
  • Support and give guidance to Bayer’s global COM and PASS teams in relevant topics e.g. in EU policy.
  • Undertake a leading role in issues and crisis management as well as in change communications.


WHO YOU ARE

  • University degree or equivalent, main focus on communications and journalism and/or public affairs and social sciences
  • 8-10 years of communications/public affairs experience with increasing responsibilities
  • Proven track record and understanding of traditional and digital media as well as political and economic processes relevant for Life Science industry, the stakeholder landscape and their interactions and relevance for Bayer
  • Proven track record in successfully leading organizations and/or international teams
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, networking and influencing skills; ability to bring together a variety of different viewpoints from different stakeholders and to work towards a common approach
  • Strategic thinking and ability to create long term vision and direction, crystalize it and turn to smart messaging
  • Good existing networks among important external stakeholders, capabilities to build new ones
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English and Finnish, including preparation and delivery of presentations to all levels of staff incl. different levels of management
  • High result orientation and high level of energy, initiative and ownership
